After leaving Airbus in 2016 I, Didier Lenormand, have created Didier L Consulting Ltd in Hong Kong to capitalise on 25+ years of continuous contacts in the Asia region as my previous professional activities brought me to most of Asian countries, from South and South-East, to North-East Asia and China. A first trip to China in 1991 was an eye opener to a nascent economic giant.

My current activities relate to providing my civil aerospace knowledge and numerous air industry contacts to people in need of such in Asia – China. In that context I have contracted with EFW to support EFW’s business development activities in Asia and China.

Rafi Matalon

GM, Marketing and BD,IAI BEDEK Aviation Groupp

Rafi Matalon, Senior Director, was nominated in January 2016 for GM Marketing and Business Development for BEDEK Aviation Group of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), with responsibility for Engines, Airframe, Components, Landing Gears, APU MRO and P2F conversions Programs (B747,

B767, B737 CL, B737-700/800 and B777) and upgrade programs. He reports to Yosi Melamed Executive VP and GM BEDEK Aviation Group.

Rafi joined Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) in 1981. From 1981 to 2001 served in various positions in Engineering, Projects Management, sales and marketing. From 2001 he served as CEO of Aerohandling Ground Handling Services company - a subsidiary of IAI for 7 years.

Before his last nomination Rafi was responsible for IAI/Military Group marketing in North America at IAINA for 5 years.

Thomas Centner

Director, Sales & Technical Marketing,EFW

Thomas is Director Sales & Marketing Aircraft Conversions at EFW - Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (Dresden/Germany), the freighter conversion and MRO arm within Airbus, since 2012 in joint venture with ST Aerospace of Singapore.

Having graduated from the University of Technology in Dresden in Mechanical Engineering Thomas joined EFW in 2008. He is responsible for sales and marketing for the A330P2F and A320/A321P2F passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversion programs mainly in the Asia-Pacific region.

Before his appointment to EFW he worked for an automotive Tier 1 supplier as Key-Account Manager. At University Projects he joined research teams for alternative hydrogen and electric power train system development projects at BMW and Daimler supplemented by a master thesis in 3D-printing in cooperation with the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa.

Mr. Robert Convey, who has more than 20 years’ experience in the commercial aviation industry, comes to AEI from Ancra International where he served as Director of Sales & Marketing for the past five years. As part of the Ancra team he contributed greatly to their rapid growth and market domination by more than doubling the company’s revenue. In addition to his many professional accomplishments, Mr. Convey is also a licensed commercial pilot and has been flying modern and vintage WWII aircraft for the past 25 years.


This panel will be gathering P2F program designers, to share their view on the market supply/demand of current 737/757/767/747/320/330 aircraft conversion programmes, how to select a right P2F program for a right aircraft type, and how to optimize time and cost management of executing P2F conversions.
